Oil filter Problems

Oil filter Collapsed or deformated

A small anti-freeze leak will cause such an issue. The leak is small enough in that the water in it evaporates because of the high engine heat, but the ethylene glycol turns into an invisible gel that will clog the filter and collapse it. In some cases the gel is thick enough so it can be felt and seen. The oil will be clear and not milky because the leak is so small.

In most cases we have found this leak coming from the head gasket, but it also could be from the water pump seal, PTO gasket, or a casting flaw. Pressure check the cooling system and try to determine where the leak is
